Dell Chromebook 11

Dell Chromebook 11 Overview: A Good, Durable Student Notebook with Reliable Processor and Long Battery Life

Chromebooks are among the simplest and most affordable computers consumers can buy. They are intended to help students get through the school day, and come with features such as a 42W 3-cell LGC battery and a starting weight of just 2.79-lbs. One ultrabook in particular that provides a lot of value to students is the Dell Chromebook 11. It has a collaborative construction that includes a 180 degree hinge, allowing the user to lay the unit flat to use as a tablet.

Younger kids can enjoy the 11-inch model as well, since it has a “child-proof” design: it comes with a spill-resistant keyboard, Drop Protection technology, and rubberized edges. It can withstand drops, buses, spills, and more. The hinges are so sturdy that uses can actually pick the notebook up by its lid.

The G Suite for Education features a variety of Google apps for students and teachers both. With apps like Classroom, students can stay organized and teachers can create, send out, and grade assignments in one place.

This is a portable machine with a dark-gray lid and tight seams. It’s made with a very durable plastic and does not look or feel cheap. The keyboard provides a good typing experience with comfortable travel between the keys, and the texture feels nice under the fingers. The textured trackpad is big and allows for multi-touch gestures and scrolling with ease.

The processor and memory vary. Configuration options range from a Celeron N3060 2GB to 4GB. For storage, the Chromebook comes with 16GB eMMC embedded flash. The 11.6-inch LCD display is available as both a touch (HD) and a non-touch (HDF) model. The touch version costs a bit more, but not much. On the touchscreen version, the screen has Corning Gorilla Glass (NBT) to protect it from scratches.

Connectivity in the Dell Chromebook 11

A variety of helpful ports come with the Dell Chromebook 11, including a full size HDMI for connecting the notebook to a larger display at the school, office, or home. There are 2 USB 3.1 (generation 1) ports, a USD card reader and headphone / microphone combo jack. Forward-firing stereo speakers are housed by the hinge.

The Intel Celeron performs quite well on this small laptop. While it can’t be used for heavy video and multimedia content, it’s still good for multi-tasking general tasks. Multiple browsers can be opened at once and the machine is still fast and responsive.

While the Dell Chromebook 11 is marketed as a student notebook, it also makes a great secondary budget notebook for adults and general computer users. It’s definitely worth every penny – especially with its durable build and long battery life.
