Lenovo Legion Y540 Preview: Everything You Need to Know about the Upcoming 15-inch Gaming Laptop Model

The upcoming iteration of Lenovo’s Legion gaming laptop lineup is a 15.6-inch model built with the latest NVIDIA graphics and Intel platforms, and will be available with newer screen options. One notable improvement is that both this version and the 17-inch model will have Dolby Vision HDR software. On the upcoming Lenovo Legion Y540, there will be a full-size keyboard with white backlighting.

You can always expect Legion laptops to be good for gaming, no matter how they are customized. This model will be a less costly alternative to its 17-inch counterpart. If you don’t mind mid-range gaming capabilities, then this one will likely be right for you. Don’t underestimate what it will be capable of, however. It’s a culmination of thousands of hours from engineers and expert craftsmen who have done tons of testing to ensure its durability and quality.

It’s recommended that you opt for the IPS FHD display with 144Hz / 300-nits / 72% color gamut. With its thin bezels, it can pack over 2 million pixels on the near-edge display, on which you can bring your favorite movies and games to live. A cheaper configuration comes with an FHD display with 1920 x 1080 resolution / 250-nits / 60-GHz / 72% color gamut.

Processor of the Lenovo Legion Y540

It appears that the Lenovo Legion Y540 will feature the latest Intel Core processor options and Windows 10 Home as the OS. It will be able to support NVIDIA GeForce RTX Max-Q graphics (2070 / 8GB) or GeForce RTX 2060. There will be up to 32GB of memory available with this model (DDR4-2666 MHz). As for storage, fast SSD and a high-capacity HDD will both be available. The PCIe NVMe SSD will be able to hold up to 512GB, and the HDD (7200-RPM) will be able to hold up to 1TB.

Lenovo lists its weight at 5.15-lbs and measurements (W x D x H) as 14.37-in x 10.24 x 0.95. Additional design features include reinforced hinges and revamped cooling. It will be available in “Raven Black” and feature a Kensington Wedge Slot, HDMI 2.0, Mini DisplayPort 1.4, three USB 3.1 Generation 1, 3.5-mm microphone / headphone, RJ45 Ethernet, and NOVO hole.

There will be Wi-Fi technology, of course, with 802.11 AC (2×2) combined with Bluetooth 5.0. The Y540 will also have Audio Harman speakers w/ Dolby Atmos, a 720p HD camera, integrated microphone, and a 52.5-Wh battery (up to 5 hours).

With all of these great features, the Lenovo Legion Y540 will definitely be worth buying – so start looking at Lenovo discounts and keep an eye on the official store for the release date.
