Dell Latitude 5500 Guide: A Portable, Versatile Laptop Designed for Mainstream Business Users

One of the Type-A ports also doubles as a charging port. For both wired and wireless networking, 802.11 ac Wi-Fi and Gigabit Ethernet are built-in. There is also Bluetooth 4.2 technology for connecting additional compatible peripherals without the need for cords.

The cheapest configuration option includes an 8th Gen. Intel Core i3 processor / Windows 10 Pro (64-bit) / 1x4GB memory (DDR4 Non-ECC), / 2.5-inch 500GB SATA (7200-RPM) hard drive / 15.6-inch HD non-touch anti-glare (1366 x 768) display / and integrated Intel UHD (620) graphics.

The integrated graphics come with every configuration, including the pricier model with the Intel Core i5 processor. All configurations come with a non-touch / anti-glare display, either with the 1366 x 768 resolution or 1920 x 1080 resolution. The displays are all WLAN / WWAN capable and have a microphone. With SOME models, you can get an SSD (M.2 PCie NVMe Class 35) with a 512GB capacity.

Latitude 5500 slots include:

• 1 Noble Wedge Lock Slot
• uSD 4.0 memory card reader
• external uSIM card tray
• Contacted SmartCard reader (optional)

There are options for either an HD RGB Camera w/ Privacy Shutter or an IR camera w/ Privacy Shutter. Regardless of which camera you get, there is Skype for Business and a “Certified Noise-reducing” array microphone setup.

If you need more than 4GB of memory, some of the models come with 8GB. As for the battery, there are a few options, including 3-cells (42or 51 WHRs) with Express Charge and 4-cells (68WHrs) with ExpressCharge.

Additional services for business users that you might want to consider are ProDeploy Client Suite, Dell ProSupport, and ProSupport Plus. The ProDeploy Client Suite is a good service if you need assistance with deploying computers with greater speed and less effort.
