Lenovo ThinkPad P53 Preview: All You Need to Know About the New 15.6-inch Mobile Workstation

The newly released ThinkPad series consists of some very impressive laptop workstations with designs that break expectations about what mobile workstations are supposed to look with and come with. The 15.6-inch model in particular is impressively thin, light, and stylish. An (optional) 4K OLED display featuring Dolby Vision is even available with the Lenovo ThinkPad P53. It is designed to meet the ever-changing needs of modern professionals across a variety of industries, in and out of the office.

Since it’s designed to deliver top-notch performance, it’s not the most compact of laptop workstations, yet it isn’t overly big either. It’s in line with most other 15.6-inch high-end laptops. Also, since it is a true workstation, the P53 has certifications from all essential ISVs for AutoCad, ArcGIs, inventor, Creo, NX, Microstation, Revit, VectorWorks, and several other companies.

The chassis is built like the ThinkPad models – solid and extremely durable. The good news is that there are more USB Type-C ports and fewer Type-A. There is also HDMI 2.0 and a 4-in-1 media card reader (SDXC, SDHC, SD, and MMC). The starting weight is 5.51-lbs (377.4-mm x 252.3-mm x 24.5-mm). Security features that come with this business laptop include a TPM module (2.0), fast identity online authentication capabilities, ThinkShutter privacy cover for webcam, Kensington lock slot, and optional match-on-chip fingerprint reader and IR camera.
