Lenovo ThinkPad P53s Guide: An Introduction to This Affordable, New Mobile Workstation with Portability, Security, and Impressive Components

Nobody likes getting hacked, so it’s nice to know that there are a lot of security features built into laptops these days. This is especially so with business laptops and workstations like the new Lenovo ThinkPad P53s which has just been released. It comes with built-in security features such as default dTPM, ThinkShutter camera cover, Fast Identity Online (FIDO) authentication, Kensington lock slot, and an optional embedded fingerprint reader and IR camera.

It’s a reasonably priced mobile workstation intended for everyone from engineers to artists. There is a very nice 15.6-inch screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, which is available as an FHD IPS with 250-nits, FHD IPS multi-touch display, or UHD IPS with 500-nits and 3840 x 2100 resolution. You can easily mirror or extend the display via the machine’s DisplayPort compatible USB Type-C / Thunderbolt 3 or HDMI 1.4 ports.

The ThinkShutter cover is for the built-in 720p webcam, which produces high-quality images and video. There is also a dual-array far-field microphone setup, a backlit keyboard, and stereo speakers with Dolby Audio. The speakers on the P53s are so enhanced with the Dolby Audio. The laptop dynamically adjusts the audio to deliver home theater quality. This means that you can use this ThinkPad for a bit of entertainment as well if you want, since you’ll have a virtual surround sound experience.

This is, needless to say, a very mobile workstation that is easy to carry and will keep you going through an entire workday or long flight. It even has excellent wi-fi capabilities and Bluetooth 5.0, as well as optional NFC and WWAN: Fibocom (L850 GLLTE A CAT9). Never have to worry about getting kicked off the internet.
