Lenovo ThinkPad L490: Guide to This New Business-Ready Laptop, Its Display Options, Processor, and More

This is a versatile and powerful business-ready notebook that offers good performance, whether you’re in the office, at home, or traveling. Out of all of the Lenovo business computers, the L series are perhaps the most “business-oriented”, and the new Lenovo ThinkPad L490 is no different. It offers a few small updates from the 2018 model, the L480, but overall the chassis and screen options are still the same. The new model, however, has a Whiskey Lake processor, and optional WWAN Fibocom 4G LTE-A cat 9 (L850-GL) and Bluetooth 5.0.

The display options include 3 14-inch Screens:

• 14-inch HD 220-nits / anti-glare / 1366 x 768
• 14-inch FHD IPS 250-nits / anti-glare 1920 x 1080
• 14-inch FHD IPS 250-nits / multi-touch / anti-glare / 1920 x 1080

As with any good business laptop, there are some good security and protection features, like the ThinkShutter webcam cover, optional touch fingerprint reader, IR camera, Kensington lock slot, and Discrete Trusted Platform Module dTPM 2.0. Many of its features are easily configuratable and will make your employees’ jobs easier. There is also a nice, long battery life with the 3-cell / 45-Wh battery.

Ports and Connections of the Lenovo ThinkPad L490

There are a total of 11 slots, including 3 on one side and 8 on the other, including various USB-C slots and USB 3.1 (gen 1 and gen 2) slots, a smart card reader, microSD card, HDMI, network extension for Ethernet, and more. It’s a nice looking, compact black laptop with 13.2-inch x 9.3-inch x 0.9-inch (H x W x D) with starting weight of 3.72-lbs.

In addition to the 14-inch display options, here are some more specs of the Lenovo ThinkPad L490:

• Processor: Intel Celeron 4305U / dual-core / 2.20-GHz / 2MB cache OR 8th Gen. Intel Core i7 featuring vPro / 4-cores / Turbo Boost / 8MB cache
• Memory: up to 64GB (DDR4 – 2400MHz)

The keyboard, which already has a nice design and is easy to type on, is available with optional white LED backlighting that allows users to work in poorly lit environments.

Overall, the Lenovo ThinkPad L490 is an excellent choice of a laptop, and you definitely can’t go wrong with it – especially if you need it for your place of work. It’s not expensive, either, as it has a starting price that is well under $800. Be sure and check for Lenovo coupon codes as well.
