Dell Latitude 7480 Business Laptop Review: All of the Specs, Ports, Design Features, and More

This is a VERY NICE versatile notebook with a 14-inch screen, current-generation hardware, mobility and security management, and just about everything a business notebook should come with. The Dell Latitude 7480 also has a uni-body design that provides a clean, seamless exterior and weighs just 3.01-lbs. It has a 6% smaller footprint then previous versions of the 14-inch Latitude models.

Both Dell commercial and business computers have been consistent with their good ergonomics, although there have been some laptops in the past that didn’t last for as long as they should have. This current generation of Latitude business notebooks have significant improvements in their build and design, ensuring that they will be more durable and last longer.

Not only is it more durable, this particular model has a redesigned chassis and is lightweight. Users can also expect an improved battery life with the 4-cell 60-Whr Long life Cycle Battery and 4-cell 60-Whr Express Charge cable.

The 14-inch display is full HD (1920 x 1080 (with anti-glare technology and an integrated camera and mic. It’s a non-touch screen with WLAN / WWAN capabilities. There is a cheaper model with a 1366 x 768 resolution display, but that’s not recommend. The Dell Latitude 7480 comes with ports for connecting it to a larger display (HDMi and DisplayPort over USB Type C w/ optional ThunderBolt).

Dell Latitude 7480 Processor

For the processor, it comes with an Intel® Core i5-6300U. However, some models are available with support for up to 6th Gen. i7 processor series processors. Order the 7480 with 8GB – 16GB (DDR4 SDRAM 2133-MHz). With two SoDIMM slots via the memory connector, you can upgrade to a maximum memory of 32GB.

As for storage specifications, this laptop supports M.2 PCIe NVMe and M.2 SATA SSDs. Regardless which one your configuration comes with, the capacity for each ranges from 128GB – 1TB of storage space. How much storage do you need? The great thing about SSDs is that they are a lot faster than traditional 5400-RPM and 7200-RPM drives.

The graphics that come with the laptop are Intel HD (520), while integrated, still come with the DisplayPort over USB Type-C w/ the Core i5 vPro. There are also 3 USB 3.1 Generation 1 with PowerShare and a uSD 4.0 memory card reader.

Since this is a laptop intended for professionals, it has a default OS of Windows 10 Pro (64-bit).

Overall, the Dell Latitude 7480 is a good, inexpensive laptop for professionals and business users who want durability combined with a lightweight chassis, decent battery life, fast storage drives, various USB ports, and an FHD display.
