This space-saving desktop easily fits on top of any table or under any desk, or even on any counter in any room and connect to the internet wirelessly with the 802.11 a-b-g-n-ac 1×1 technology (only on some models). Also included with the highly-affordable HP Slimline 290-a0045m is Bluetooth 4.2 technology / M.2 combo, 5.1 surround sound, and a whole lot more.

There is one 9.5-mm external bay (occupied) and one 3.5-in internal bay (occupied). You get a decent SATA drive – 7200 rpm with a storage capacity of 1TB. Despite the sleek, “slimline” design of this chassis, it still comes with an optical drive.

Users can really expect good performance and power with the AMD dual-core A9 processor and its 3.1-GHz base frequency, as well as AMD Radeon R5 graphics (integrated). The processor can get up to a burst frequency speed of 3.7-GHz. While there won’t be extreme gaming with the Slimline 290, it can still handle most mainstream multimedia activities like music streaming and video streaming. You can probably play a few games on low to medium settings.

In all of the HP reviews about this particular model, everyone seems happy that it runs well, offers plenty of performance and speed, and is an ideal size. The HP Slimline 290-a0045m actually weighs just under 7-lbs and its chassis measures 3.74-in x 11.64-in x 10.63-in (W x D x H). In addition to two M.2 expansion slots, there are 1 HDMI and 1 VGA video connectors, a 65-W external AC power adapter, and several ports.

The external I/O ports on the front are: 2 USB 3.1 Generation 1 and headphone/microphone combo. On the rear, there are: 2 USB 3.1 Generation 1 and 2 USB 2.0. There shouldn’t be any problems connecting your other devices, peripherals, and monitor. Some of the USB ports also allow for charging. As for the keyboard and mouse, an HP Wired black mouse and keyboard do come included with this slimline tower.

You can fit plenty of memory into the machine, as the 2-DIMM memory slots together allow for up to 32GB. Start out with 8GB (DDR4-1866 SDRAM). The power supply wattage is 65-W. An external AC power adapter comes with the package. With the HP 3-in-1 media card reader, there is support for SD / SDXC / SDHC.

Overall, the HP Slimline 290-a0045m is a great PC. It comes with a few security and protection pre-loaded software as well as productivity tools (Dropbox, HP Connection Optimizer, etc.) The HP Recovery Manager performs functions such as recovering, restoring, and creating recovery media for the computer. Windows 10 Home is the OS.
