Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Options Guide: An Overview of the AMD and Intel Models, Design, & Features

You don’t have to be a tech geek to recognize that this is a good laptop just at a glance – and you get 4 different models to choose from: the 14-inch Intel, 14-inch AMD, 15-inch Intel, and 15-inch AMD. Just pick the size and processor you prefer, and from there, go on and select from a variety of configurations. In Lenovo IdeaPad 5 reviews, it is described as being “nice and slim” yet “sturdy”.

Design

The main difference, in addition to size, is that the 15-inch models have touchscreens and the 14-inch models do not. They all have 300-nits and a narrow border (90% AAR). The keyboards and trackpads are all nicely built.

It is neither metal nor plastic. This notebook was built with extra care given to the texture to create a comfortable “fabric-like” feel on the surface with a special type of paint. These come in “Graphite Gray” and “Platinum Gray”.

Storage

On top of powerful Intel Core and AMD processors, they all come with PCIe SSD storage solutions. While solid state drives are faster than the traditional SATA, the new variety that includes a PCIe slot offers the potential for a lot of extra speed. As for the capacity, the number varies depending on the configuration. The maximum capacity available is 512GB.

Processors

Here are the most powerful specs for each mode of the Lenovo IdeaPad 5:

• 14-inch AMD – Ryzen 7 (4700U) / 8-cores / 8-threads / 8-MB cache – 4.10-GHz with Max Boost
• 14-inch Intel – 10th Gen. Intel Core i5 (1035G1) / 4-cores / 8-threads / 6-MB cache – 3.60-GHz with Max Boost
• 15-inch AMD – Ryzen 5 (4500U) / 6-cores / 6-threads / 8-MB cache / up to 3.60-GHz with Boost
• 15-inch Intel – i7 (1065G7) / 4-cores / 8-threads / 8-MB cache / up to 3.90-GHz with Boost

Other Features – Lenovo IdeaPad 5

The graphics obviously vary as well. Depending on the model, there could be integrated AMD Radeon graphics, Intel Iris HD graphics, and NVIDIA GeForce (MX350) 2GB, which is available with the 14-inch Intel IdeaPad 5.

For the memory, get either 8GB or 16GB, either of which is really good for a 14-inch or 15-inch laptop. The power supply is provided with a 65W AC adapter and 3-cell internal battery (57-Whr).

There are a variety of USB (Gen 1) C and A 3.2 ports, HDMI, and a headphone microphone combo on the IdeaPad 5.
