Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold Review of the First Foldable PC and All the Great Things about It

Foldable tablets and phones have become somewhat famous in the past year, but what about PCs? The world is entering a new era as foldable PCs are becoming a thing, and the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold will be the first of many. Mobile computing enthusiasts will likely find this device to be everything they can hope for, as it shakes up the traditional form factor of PCs.

When not in use, it folds up like a book and even looks the part, thanks to the back leather panel. While there are a few different spec configurations available, the weight begins around 2.2-lbs (0.99 kg). Folded, the X1 measures 1.09-inches x 6.23-inches x 9.29-inches and unfolded, it measures 0.45-inches x 11.79-inches x 9.29-inches (H x W x D).

There is a “Mood Switcher” app that allows the user to orient the windows to however they want to use them. It’s effortless to either split the screen into two or opt for full-width mode for a single, large display. Also, there is an on-screen keyboard that automatically pops up whenever it is needed. There is an optional wireless (Bluetooth) one available, along with a pen, speaking of keyboards. These accessories enhance the experience users can have with the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold.

You can use it in various ways: laptop, split-screen for multi-tasking, tablet, or as one large display. Not only has it been designed and tested for durability and performance, but the X1 Fold is also the winner of 43 CES awards.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold Processor and Display

The processor is an Intel Core i5 (L16G7) with 5-cores and 5-threads. It can get up to 3.0-GHz with turbo boost (1.40-GHz base) and features Intel Hybrid technology. The display is a 13.3-inch QXGA foldable 2K OLED touchscreen with 1536 x 2040 resolution and 300-nits.

The 8GB of memory (LPDDR4x 4267 MHz) is soldered, and the PCIe SSD drive comes with either 256GB or 512GB, depending on the configuration and price. Some structures may even come with up to 1TB of storage. Graphics come integrated (Intel UHD).

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold has Windows 10 (Home 64) as its operating system and Intel Wi-Fi 6 wireless technology (2 x 2) with Bluetooth 5.1. There is an IR &5MP HD camera. Expect several hours of use with the 50-Whr internal battery.
