Lenovo ThinkPad P14s Review – Must-Have, Reliable Workstation for Professionals

The new P-series of ThinkPad has recently been unveiled by Lenovo as being powered by the latest Intel and AMD processors, depending on the exact model and specifications. The ideal demographic for the Lenovo ThinkPad P14s is anyone looking for performance on the go, whether professionals, students, educators, etc.

There are options for Generation 2, which includes (up to) 11th Gen. Intel Core processors, and Generation 3 models, which can handle the new 12th Gen. Alder Lake CPUs. Since they are portable workstations, these P14s ThinkPads are slim and light in design yet deliver powerful performance and ThinShield security solutions.

Also, users can expect all of the ISV certifications they need from major vendors, such as AutoCAD, Solid Edge, Ansys, MicroStation, SolidWorks, and more. Lenovo made it of sustainable materials, including the battery, which is 97% recycled plastic, and the speaker enclosure. Even the packaging material is approximately 90% PCC and sustainably forested.

The 14.0-inch display on the Lenovo ThinkPad P14s mobile workstation is flexible; its hinges allow it to be pressed entirely back, flat on the desk. Various lighting and anti-glare technologies are available depending on the configuration, with a resolution of either 1920 x 1200 or 2240 x 1400. Touchscreen might also be an option.

Lenovo ThinkPad P14s Graphics and Memory

The integrated graphics are Intel Iris Xe. In addition, NVIDIA T550 (4GB) comes with P-series workstations for dedicated graphics. As mentioned above, the 11th and 12th generation processors are capable of delivering a great deal of performance and power. Some 12th-generation processors feature E-Core Max / P-Core Max technology, Turbo Boost, and up to 14 cores and 16 threads.

Generation 2 P-series laptops can come with 16GB (DDR4 3200-MHz) memory and a 512GB PCIe SSD. The Generation 3 models can handle up to 24GB of memory with a 2TB PCIe SSD storage solution.

The connectivity and wireless technology for the Lenovo ThinkPad P14s include WLAN Intel Wi-Fi 6E (AX211 – 802.11AX / 2×2) and Bluetooth 5.1+ and optional WWAN technologies (select models), including Near Field Communication, Quectel Cat 4 EM05 or FIBOCOM L860-R 4G LTE CAT16 (with eSIM).

Users can expect several security features and tools: dTPM 2.0, match-on-chip fingerprint reader, webcam privacy shutter, FIDO authentication capabilities, Kensington security lock slot, and (optional) hybrid IR cam with Windows Hello.

The Lenovo ThinkPad P14s is constructed to last, as it has undergone advanced military testing for ruggedness and durability. Lenovo made it work reliably in nearly every type of environment. The keyboard is also spill-resistant.
