HP ENVY 17t-cr000 Review – Excellent, Affordable Laptop with Optional Multi-Touch Enabled Display and Good Configuration Choices

Not everyone has the budget for a $1,000+ laptop computer. However, this doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice quality or performance. Thankfully, there are laptops like the HP ENVY 17t-cr000, which offer a good amount of performance and potential and come reasonably affordable.

It’s also a good choice for anybody who wants a laptop with a large display, making it an ideal desktop replacement. There are a couple of configuration options regarding the specs. While some configurations will be pricier, don’t forget that there are always HP discounts and special promo offers.

In reviews, the cr000 is constantly praised for its speed and overall performance for business users and general consumers. However, HP’s primary focus for this laptop is to be a creative workstation for digital artists and other creative types. As a result, features such as the HP Palette, a color-calibrated display, brilliant colors, creative tools, and more are available. In addition, the HP Palette includes apps like HP QuickDrop, which allow users to transfer files wirelessly.

As for the display options, the cheapest configuration doesn’t come with a multi-touch-enabled screen. The base model of the HP ENVY 17t-cr000 features a 17.3-inch diagonal FHD micro-edge IPS display with 1920 x 1080 resolution and edge-to-edge glass design. For those who want to use it for creative projects, it’s probably a good idea to choose the multi-touch enabled display.

HP ENVY 17t-cr000 Processor and Storage

Intel Core i5 and i7 processors are supported. With the i5 processor, there are 12-cores and 16 threads. It goes up to 4.4-GHz and has a 12MB L3 cache. The i7 (1260P) processor option offers 12-cores, 16-threads, and an 18MB L3 cache. It gets up to a speed of 4.7-GHz. Intel Iris Xe graphics come with either of these processors. It’s an option to order the cr000 with a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2050 GPU with 4GB.

The storage solution includes room for 512GB – 1TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD drive. The cheapest configuration option has the 512GB capacity SSD drive. You can expect a minimum of 8GB memory (2 x 4GB) DDR4-3200 SDRAM. Up to 32GB (2 x 16GB) of memory is supported. When ordering online, you might also get a 16GB (2 x 8GB) option.

This laptop does not come with an optical drive, but there is an option to order an external DVD burner if you need one. The expansion slot is a multi-format SD media card reader.

Additional features and technologies with the HP ENVY 17t-cr000 include MediaTek Wi-Fi 6 (2×2) and Bluetooth 5.2 combo, 4-cell 55-Wh Li-Ion polymer, fast charge technology, and a 90-W USB Type-C power adapter.
