Lenovo ThinkPad X13s

Lenovo ThinkPad X13s Review – Details of This New Lightweight Laptop with Smartphone Technology

This ThinkPad by Lenovo is a good Windows version equivalent to Apple’s M1. Lenovo is marketing it towards travelers, front-line workers, hybrid workers, etc. It is portable and offers a “smartphone experience with PC performance.” Powered with Snapdragon and featuring ISV-certified apps and “always-on” technology, it’s straightforward to get much work done with the Lenovo ThinkPad X13s.

Lenovo also promises a multi-day battery life, in addition to Wi-Fi 6E and (optional) 5G mmWave technology. The price varies, as there are a few configurations to choose from. Starting with the lowest-priced version, there is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Generation 3 processor (SC8280XP) at 3.0-GHz. It works wonderfully with the integrated Qualcomm Adreno graphics (690).

As mentioned above, this is a Windows-based device. Each model of the X13s comes with Windows 11 Home or Pro ARM as its Operating System. It comprises 90% recycled magnesium alloy in the lid and glass fiber reinforced “post-consumer content plastic” in the chassis. The X13s weighs just 2.35-lbs and measures 0.53-inches in height X 11.76-inches in Width X 8.13-inches in depth.

No matter what you want to watch or look at, all the colors and details will show wonderfully on the 13.3-inch WUXGA IPS display, with 100% sRGB, 300-nits, and 1920 x 100 resolution. There is also an option for a touchscreen on the Lenovo ThinkPad X13s, with anti-glare technology and 72% NTSC.

Lenovo ThinkPad X13s Memory and Storage

There is a high amount of memory available, going up to 32GB (dual channel) LPDDR 4x (4266-MHz). Likewise, there is up to 1TB of PCIe SSD storage (Gen 4). Having such a high amount of storage capacity and RAM on this thin, lightweight laptop is pretty impressive.

The 49.5-Whr battery can last up to 28 hours – even when there is a lot of video playback. It also supports Rapid Charge technology, which means it doesn’t take long to charge back up again. However, as with any laptop, the battery power of the Lenovo ThinkPad X13s will depend on factors such as the configuration, settings, usage, power management settings, screen brightness, etc.

Another good thing about this laptop with a “smartphone experience” is its many security features. Here are some of the security features you can expect: Trusted Platform Module 2.0, Kensington lock slot, E-shutter privacy for the webcam (activated via the F9 key), Microsoft Pluton security architecture, and Secured-Core PC.

Lastly, the Lenovo ThinkPad X13s has excellent audio quality, with two user-facing speakers powered by Dolby Audio. There are also three mics. The Qualcomm Voice and Audio Suite offers AI-based noise suppression and echo cancellation. In addition, there is a headphone/microphone combo, SIM slot, and 2 x USB-C 3.2 Generation 2 ports.
