Lenovo IdeaCentre Mini 5i: Guide to a Small Form Factor with Unique “Textile” Design & Good Build

You should never judge anything by its size, and computers are no exception. A mini-tower can be equipped with suitable hardware components like a regular-sized desktop tower or mid-size laptop. This PC is an excellent choice for those who don’t have a lot of desk space but still need the convenience of various ports, spacious storage, and good performance. The Lenovo IdeaCentre Mini 5i has a starting weight of just 3.26-lbs.

The design includes a Terrazzo Grey exterior with a textile-looking covering in Mineral Grey. The measurements are 1.57-inches x 7.64-inches x 7.18-inches (H x W x D). It has an overall “warm” and contemporary appearance.

The Mini 5i is a unique-looking SFF tower with several ports, including a total of 5 USB 3.2 Type-C ports for fast charging/data transfer speeds. One is located in the front and the other four in the back. Additionally, a front-positioned USB Type-C port allows for fast charging and data transfer. There is dual monitor support with DisplayPort and HDMI port to boost productivity or enjoy more entertainment. A headphone/mic combo jack is on the front.

Wireless connectivity includes WiFi 6 technology – 802.11 AX (2x), RJ45 Ethernet, and Bluetooth 5.1. The Lenovo IdeaCentre Mini 5i has some good specs considering its size and affordability:

The dual-storage is pretty impressive considering this Mini Tower’s size. The SSD drive adds speed and the HDD offers extra storage for bulking up your file/media library.

While it comes with plenty of storage, speed, etc., there is a bit of room for expansion, and the Lenovo IdeaCentre Mini 5i can be opened without too much trouble. Gain access by popping the “textile” cover off and removing a few screws and a metal plate. This access will at least allow you entry into the memory and SSD.

Its overall system performance is suitable for most office-oriented tasks such as spreadsheet work, videoconferencing, creating and editing documents, web browsing, etc. You can also use the Lenovo IdeaCentre Mini 5i for entertainment and general web tasks and activities. It’s simply a good SSF tower to have around.
